RENTON -- Officers responding to a report of a gunfight early Saturday found a man's body with gunshot wounds near Lake Washington. A 29-year-old suspect was arrested later a few blocks away at a local motel, Renton police said.

Officers rushed to the scene of the shooting, in the 4400 block of Lake Washington Boulevard, at about 2:35 a.m., after receiving a call about a fight involving gunfire.

When officers arrived, the found a 31-year-old man dead from apparent gunshot wounds, said Cmdr. Floyd Eldridge with the Renton Police Department's Investigations Division.

The gunman was gone when officers arrived. Police say it appeared he drove away in the victim's car.

The suspect was later found at a local motel in the 4700 block of Lake Washington Boulevard and taken into custody at about 9 a.m.

The victim's car is still missing. It is described as a white 1993 Honda Accord four-door, license number 223PVK. Also missing is the gun used in the shooting.

No further details were available about the arrest or the circumstances that led to the gunshots. But Eldridge said officers have determined it was not a random shooting, and that the gunman and victim knew each other. The two had agreed to meet at a pre-arranged time and location.

The Renton Police Department's Investigations Division and Special Operations Divisions are investigating the case.
